Hema Care Bloood Plasma Donation Center

So this place is a little different then the rest that they DONT pay money, but they do give you gift cards and other stuff for your time. Check out these guys. I would see what kinds of blood drives they are doing in the LA valley area and see if they have something special to give for that event. A lot of times a company will sponsor an LA blood drive and give away very cool products.

The city of Angels, Los Angeles is a huge sprawling metropolis yet there are only two plasma donation centers in the great LA area.

Bio-Medics
1715 East Florence Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90001
(323) 586-0100

Hours of operation:
Monday to Saturday 6 – 4.30
New donors 8.30 – 12.30

How often can one donate at the center?
The body replaces the plasma removed during the donation process quickly; therefore, healthy individuals can donate as often as twice in a seven-day period, with at least 48 hours between donations.

Payment for donation:
At the first donation you receive $20 then $40 for the second donation during the first week. Then after that you are considered a regular donor and receive $20 and $25 for the first and second donation during a week.

What tests are performed prior to signing up?
Donating plasma is a very safe procedure with minimal or no side effects. On the first visit you will receive a physical exam and your medical history will be recorded. On subsequent visits, a staff member will check your vital signs and ask some questions about your health since your last donation. In addition, your hematocrit (the percentage of blood volume occupied by red blood cells) and plasma protein levels will be measured.

How long does a donation take?
First donation takes about 2-3 hours, after that about 1.5 hours.

Are there any upfront costs for the potential donor to enroll in the program (startup costs)?
None

Advantages:
on bus line

Uniqueness:
They are the only paying plasma facility in the LA area.
